Rieke Metals New PEDOT Derivatives for ECD’s

Rieke Metals is pleased to announce our new offering of PEDOT derivatives. PEDOT derivatives can be used in thin film form for flexible electrochromic devices. These derivatives can produce high cycle stability and fast response times.

Electrochromic (EC) materials can change their optical properties due to a charge-transfer process. They are used to design and produce aesthetically appealing and useful “smart products”. These EC materials can be utilized in many industries such as architecture, vehicles, interior design, lifestyle and sports.

Conjugated polymers have demonstrated EC properties as thin films. This allows conjugated EC polymers like poly(3,4-ethylene dioxythiophene) to be a large-scale, low-cost product for electrochromic devices since they can be coated on flexible plastic substrates. Typically the only drawback to PEDOT is color. ProDOT allows for color neutrality in the bleached state with light transmittance change. This makes ProDOT a great option when developing electrochromic devices.
